Over the course of four sessions, discussions explored the supply chain of medicinal and botanical plant products — from production to consumption.
Institutional perspectives were provided by Dr. Maria Nucera from ISMEA (Institute of Services for the Agricultural and Food Market), Dr. Roberto Copparoni from the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Domenico from ALSIA Basilicata.
The legal dimension, particularly from the agri-legal research perspective, was addressed by Prof. Laura Costantino, Prof. Nicola Lucifero, and Prof. Valeria Paganizza, under the coordination of Prof. Pamela Lattanzi.
The project’s research team — Dr. Laura Carrara, Dr. Donato Maria Matera, Dr. Archana Singh, and Dr. Mariassunta Ciccone — presented the Operational Guidelines for the production, processing, and marketing of plants with beneficial properties, the result of months of intensive research.
Finally, a Round Table brought together voices from across the supply chain: Dr. Renato Iguera (Assoerbe), Dr. Andrea Primavera (Italian Federation of Medicinal Plant Producers – FIPPO), Dr. Sandro Biffi (Giardino delle Erbe Ceroni), Dr. Francesco Tomaselli (Fibreno Officinali Farm), and Luciano Tei and Matteo Torrisi, experts in the identification and harvesting of wild edible herbs.
The conference took place under the scientific direction of Prof. Margherita Brunori, Prof. Paolo Borghi, and Prof. Valeria Paganizza, with the organizational support of Dr. Donato Maria Matera.
